6 Reviews of the Zephyros 2

As with the post by Paul10, I also experienced the worst possible customer service I have come across. After camping on a campsite near Presteigne Wales June 2018 , I returned home to discover the Superflex Alloy pole (the only one on this tent) had hairline fractures. TN the manufacturer could only put it down to tear and wear, offering me a new pole at cost as the pole was bent. What is the term super flex suppose to mean? I was not happy, I was not wild camping or indeed ever used this tent for such. Their ineptitude in customer service was unbelievable - polite but not very understanding. The tent is ok, it is very small and at times claustrophobic so it’s not really a touring tent. My advice is leave well alone , the blue anodised pole has to do a lot of work and is not as good as previous gold colour supplied with the Voyager. I would like to know if anyone has experienced a fractured pole on this model and got anywhere with Terra Nova outside the 2 years warranty period

Bought Wild Country Zephyros 2 in January 2016, by middle of May 2016 pole had snapped ripping a gash in the pole sleeve (never pitched on a hill only on a protected and sheltered campsite): Told by Terra Nova via Nevisport in Aviemore that they wanted £48.00 for a new pole and £18.00 to repair the tear.

Possibly the worst customer service experience I have ever had coupled with the worst warranty.

If I had used it in harsh conditions then no problem but what is the point of this tent? If you need a tent for campsites only buy some cheap crap from Mountain Warehouse or similar and save yourself some cash.

Bought because it seemed to be very light without spending £300+. I use for cycle touring. Agreed it is small but that is the same for EVERY tent. Two man means comfy for one. Packs small and fits back in the bag easily, plus it is nice and short when packed. Pegs a bit rubbish but I bought a dozen of these which are stunning http://www.Cleats.Co.Uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=cl622

Only thing I would like is way of pitching freestanding if having to pitch on hard surface, but you can't have it all

This tent is fantastic to say the least.

Firstly for the price it is the lightest tent you can buy at around 1.7kg making it great to carry when hiking.

Also the tent folds down very small for easy packing. Although to do this the internal poles must be removed which can make pitching a little difficult pitching however it still can be done in under 10 mins.

The tent outer material is of good quality and I have had no problems with leaks although I have once had the condensation issue stated in a previous review but I found the tent dried very quickly in the morning.

I would suggest purchasing new pegs as these will bend quite easily however they do the job well and are lightweight.

Finally the space inside is great for one person and kit although there are many spaces around the edges of the tent were pieces of kit could also be stored.

Overall great lightweight hiking tent for the money and I would recommend to anyone.

I bought my zephyros 2 man tent for cycle touring , the weight was brilliant and it went up easy only taking a few mins .But Taking it down the next morning was really bad ,it was a dry night but you would not of thought so , the inner skin was full of condensation making it impossible to pack it away dry and trying to separate the inner tent from the outer in an attempt to keep the inner away from the water was no use . I had to hang the lot all up inner and outer before I could pack up . The other problem I found that it was ment to be a 2 man tent but there is just enough room for 1 without kit , there is no space for any kit . If it had been raining it would of been horrible . I would not recommend this tent

I own a zephyros 2 and have mainly used it for camping for a couple of nights in OK or wet weather (no extreme summit camping etc.) The best thing about the tent is its weight - at 1.79kg it is very light and good value compared with other 2 skin lightweight tents. Well made with one central hooped pole and two short black poles at each end, which when pegged out give it its shape. Takes 5-10 minutes to pitch, and I pitch it all in one (fly and inner). It is a SMALL tent, you would not get two people in it unless they were very close and small, it is also very low to the ground, so if it is muddy then getting in without getting muddy knees can be interesting. It has survived wind and rain, and has not leaked or condensated - the inner is some distance from the outer, which causes you to have less room, but does minimise the chance of leaks. It has a small porch for gear, although I just keep my gear in the tent with me (it is big enough for that). Bad points - the pegs are horrible v angle things, hurt your hands, worth replacing, the tent also packs up light but LONG, so it is a funny shape to fit in your rucksack. Overall good lightweight tent for one person though.
